The original Ring of Ra was discovered in 1860 during archaeological excavations in the Valley of the Kings (Egypt), in the tomb of a priest or mathematician.
Carved from Aswan stone, this ring later passed into the hands of Howard Carter , the famous Egyptologist who discovered Tutankhamun's tomb.

According to his own testimony, Carter attributed his escape from the mysterious “ Pharaoh's curse ”—which fatally affected many members of the expedition—to a protective amulet he always carried with him: the legendary Ring of Ra .
